So today I saw this wonderful post on Facebook, regarding speech impairment, music and rhythm. And it reminded me of a time quite some years ago, where I had the pleasure of teaching a young man how to dance, who had a similar speech impairment. Not as severe, but nonetheless it was there. Through dance, movement and rhythm, this young man was able to speak more freely, relax in the presence of others, and communicate well with peers after being bullied for many years at school.
I raise this because it is the power of rhythm that assists people in ways that we don’t realise, and empowers them like nothing else.
